Brief overview of program: The objectives of this concentration are to provide students with the fundamentals of biological, chemical, geological and physical oceanographic processes. Through lectures, laboratories and at-sea studies the student will be lead to an understanding and appreciation of the multidisciplinary character of marine science, an interdisciplinary approach to problem formulation and problem solving, and the importance of the ocean in the modulation and enhancement of the earth's environment. The curriculum is designed to educate students in the problem solving tools of data analysis, critical thinking and communication of ideas as related to oceanographic science.
